Lyons, Nebraska - On Saturday, July 30, Lyons will host the sixth leg of the 2016 Good Living Tour.
In its second year, the Good Living Tour expands from 9 to 12 Greater Nebraska cities over three weekends this summer, July 21-August 7. The tour will mix a concert series and storytelling project to celebrate the state’s unique attributes and increasingly vibrant, original music culture.
An unprecedented project, the tour will bring free, all-ages concerts featuring a diverse mix of all-original Nebraska bands and DJs to each location. The mission of the tour is to connect the state’s urban and rural communities, expose young audiences to music performance, educate the world about Greater Nebraska’s music and art scenes, and ultimately help each participating town attract visitors and potential new residents.
Along with a concert, the Good Living Tour will also create two feature stories highlighting music community and industry-related subjects in Lyons and an “Experience Nebraska” video featuring young professionals speaking about what makes Lyons a uniquely great place to live, work and play, and a music video featuring a local artist performing a song at a landmark community location.
Earlier in June a film crew came to Lyons and interviewed several residence to be featured in a short promotional video for the community of Lyons that will debut during the Good Living Tour performance on July 30. Some of the residents interviewed include Corbin Wheaton, Melissa Vacha, and Jamie Horter.
Music begins at 6 p.m. and will be held on Main Street at the Lyons Storefront Theater.

LINEUP:
Satchel Grande (funk – Omaha)
For most of the last decade, Satchel Grande has been smoothing and shaping the hook-heavy sounds of its ’70s-inspired funk. Now five albums in and always pushing a dozen members, the sunglasses-sporting Omaha standby has all but mastered throwing a dance party by way of its synths, brass grooves and club-chic falsettos.
Evan Bartels & the Stoney Lonesomes (folk/country – Tobias)
In the past few years, Evan Bartels has deftly found the middle ground between the roots genres proliferating through Lincoln. Bartels’ deep and soulful voice is buoyed by his country-rock band. On one song, the group will belt a thunderous romp suited to a night out dancing. On another, they’re a stripped-down blues group, plumbing for bare emotions. Bartels connects it all with his ear for stirring melody and stinging lyrics.
Better Friend (rock – Lincoln)
With 2015’s Safehouse EP, Better Friend solidified itself as one of the most exciting bands in Lincoln’s bourgeoning hardcore scene. With a late-era emo flair, the band is all high-sailing harmonies and dueling guitars led by ferocious lead vocalist Meghan Munyon. Known for invigorating performances, Better Friend is not-to-miss among Nebraska bands.
