Dyersville, IA - The Center for Rural Affairs along with Iowa Interfaith Power and Light, Environmental Law & Policy Center, and Young Evangelicals for Climate Action will host a forum about the intersection between faith, climate change, and agriculture on Wednesday, June 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Christy 4-H Hall in Nevada, Iowa.
The forum will feature a panel of speakers including:
Fred Kirschenmann, Farmer and Former Director of the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture
Chris Anderson, Scientist, Assistant Director Climate Science Program at ISU
Rev. Susan Hendershot Guy, Executive Director at Iowa Interfaith Power and Light
Moderated by Mike Glover, Former Associated Press Statehouse and Political Reporter
Panelists will focus on how climate change is impacting agriculture in Iowa, how farmers are mitigating and adapting to climate change, and share why this issue is important to them and how their faith calls them to respond.
“In Iowa, farmers will be some of the hardest hit by climate change. But they can also take steps to reduce the risk from climate change, to protect the younger generations from food insecurity, and to steward the land for the next generation,” says Stephanie Enloe of the Center for Rural Affairs. “The question of whether to act on climate change is a moral one, and Midwestern farmers are increasingly called to answer.”
