Staff spotlight: Anthony lives the American dream

Small Towns

Rural America holds a special place in Anthony Gurrola’s heart – his story began there and continues there today.

Anthony says his upbringing is the perfect example of a rural environment being inclusive and supporting the American Dream.

“I’m the child of an immigrant; born and raised in western Nebraska,” he said. “My father migrated there and started his living as a hardworking ranch hand. After he met my mother, she helped him and other family members work toward gaining legal status.”

Newly hired as a Latino loan specialist with the Center for Rural Affairs, Anthony hopes to use his position to help others pursue and live out their own American dreams.

In his role, he is responsible for providing technical assistance and access to funding through community outreach, helping ensure the success of small business owners and entrepreneurs.

Anthony has 14 years of experience as a supervisor in mortgage servicing. This includes various functions in the loan process from origination, servicing, management of property damage claims, default servicing, and foreclosure. He also has a background in facilitating adult learning experiences as a corporate human resources facilitator. He hopes to use the knowledge he’s gained over the years to assist him with his new responsibilities.

“I strive to provide quality service with a smile to western Nebraska while also adding valuable contributions to help improve the Center’s lending practices,” he said. “The best part of my role is having the ability to directly impact the success of our rural communities by providing support to start, manage, and expand local business ventures.”

When Anthony isn’t busy helping others achieve their dreams, he enjoys living out his own.

Anthony and his wife are the proud parents of two boys and a baby girl. An avid sports lover, Anthony spends his free time spectating or participating in as many sporting events as he can.

Anthony serves the western Nebraska panhandle area, including Banner, Box Butte, Cheyenne, Dawes, Deuel, Garden, Kimball, Morrill, Sheridan, Scotts Bluff, and Sioux counties.

He can be reached at his office in Scottsbluff at 615 S Beltline Highway West, Suite 1, 308.631.0157, or anthonyg@cfra.org.
