Director of Policy

I grew up as a fifth generation South Dakotan with deep roots in the McCook/Lake county area. Growing up in the countryside gave me a deep appreciation for the rural landscape and the people who live there.

After graduating from college, I began working as a rural community organizer. This was a pivotal experience as I spent countless hours sitting at kitchen tables across from folks of all walks of life, finding common ground and delving into the real issues affecting rural people. I was able to see firsthand how working at the local level is often where the most impactful change can be made.

I joined the Center’s policy program in 2018, where I spent five years working on clean energy initiatives. Now, as Policy Director, I lead our policy team, providing strategy and support for the Center's full range of policy priorities. Our work spans multiple states and covers a wide range of local, state, and federal issues that impact the well-being of rural communities.

My work at the Center has reinforced my commitment to serving as a rural advocate. I’ve seen firsthand the unique challenges these communities face, and I find deep fulfillment in working with an organization that strives to make rural life better for all.

In addition to my work for the Center I enjoy running, yoga, and adventuring outdoors as much as possible.
