Nebraska state policy is my main focus. I advocate, research, and educate about issues from food access to health care to economic development. I love that I get to work on advancing policies that make the lives of everyday people a little bit better. I also love the days when I go to the Capitol; the entire building is a piece of artwork that is an ode to Nebraska history.

I have a bachelor's degree in history from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a graduate certificate in public management from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. My professional experience is all in the public and nonprofit sector. I have worked at the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Heartland Family Service, and for a grassroots voter turnout campaign. I also serve on the Wahoo Public Library Board of Directors.

Rural America is where I am from, where many people I know are from, and when I think of rural America, I imagine a small town surrounded by cornfields and pasture. The way of life in rural areas instilled a lot of my values, but it is often overlooked or has negative connotations. It is so important for rural voices to have a seat at the table when deciding what is needed to make life better for themselves and their neighbors.

I grew up in a small town and have many memories of running around my aunt and uncle’s farm with my cousins, the same farm where my dad grew up. As an adult, and especially after becoming a parent, I realized how important that upbringing was and why I moved back. I wanted my daughter to share the experiences I had: knowing there is family all around to call on, running around the neighborhood or walking to the pool with friends, and knowing her teachers and classmates.
