As general counsel, I provide legal and strategic advice to the Center’s leadership and assist in risk management. Day-to-day, that could include drafting contracts, legal research, and mapping out the legal building blocks for projects.
I knew the Center was the place for me when I saw a quote from “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” on the wall in the conference room: “Be excellent to each other.” The Center’s mission really resonates with me, and the team members are great people. There is a diverse array of programming and some very interesting projects going on here, and I’m grateful to be part of moving them forward.
Before coming to the Center, I worked at a law firm and focused on employee benefits and tax-exempt organizations. Law is a second career for me—before going to law school, I helped a photographer run his business.
Although I live in Lincoln now, I grew up in southwest Nebraska and have personal ties there. In those settings, the true leaders are the ones building the place they want to live in by starting or growing a business, planning the community festival, fundraising for new playground equipment, or running for local office. It’s a privilege to support those efforts.
Q&A
Are you a morning person or a night owl, and what is your favorite thing about that time of day?
I’m a morning person all the way. I enjoy taking our dog for a walk in the early hours; we have the neighborhood to ourselves, except for the occasional fox.
What's your favorite food/restaurant?
Lincoln’s Super Taco is our go-to. Best birria tacos in town.
If you could meet any celebrity or public figure, dead or alive, who would you choose?
Tough question! If I had to pick just one, I think I’d sit in on Richard Feynman’s undergraduate physics lectures.
