Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) landowners with expiring contracts have unique opportunities to continue their legacy of conservation through the CRP-Transition Incentives Program (CRP-TIP).
Approximately 155,000 acres of CRP in Iowa and roughly 60,000 acres of CRP in Nebraska are set to expire in 2025, with more to follow in 2026 and 2027.
CRP-TIP helps both landowners with expiring contracts and beginning farmers looking for land. The program incentivizes land transfers to underserved or beginning farmers who will return the land to sustainable agricultural production.
Julee Patzel, a conservation specialist with Nebraska Farm Service Agency, and Jessica Groskopf, a regional extension economist with Nebraska Extension and Nebraska Land Link, share information on how landowners can take advantage of the CRP-TIP program.
