This webinar, hosted by the Center for Energy & Environmental Education at the University of Northern Iowa and the Center for Rural Affairs covers the key components of strong county-level solar ordinances with examples from Iowa and around the Midwest.

Energy program staff from the Iowa Environmental Council and the Center for Energy & Environmental Education​ walk through the Iowa Solar Siting Resource Guide: A Roadmap For Counties authored by Iowa Environmental Council and the Center for Rural Affairs. This resource is intended to guide county officials through the process of drafting a solar energy ordinance. Cody Smith, Center policy associate, outlines best practices for incorporating native vegetation and pollinator habitat with solar projects and considerations for development of community solar projects.
