Walthill, Nebraska - Handmade jewelry, shawls, crafts, and beadwork made by members of the Omaha Tribe are among items available at the fourth annual Christmas Bazaar on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
El evento, que tendrá lugar en el cuartel de bomberos de Walthill, ubicado en 121 Main St., Walthill, Nebraska, está organizado por el Centro de Asuntos Rurales y el Colegio Comunitario Indígena de Nebraska.
Además de los artículos hechos a mano, los vendedores ofrecerán mermeladas, jaleas, salsas, encurtidos y otros alimentos.
“Check out one of the most unique holiday shopping experiences you'll find in northeast Nebraska,” said Suzi French, community food specialist with the Center for Rural Affairs. “Bring your appetite and try corn soup made with locally grown, traditional corn, paired with fry bread.”
There will be door prize drawings every half hour from 10:30 to 6 p.m.
Vendors may still reserve booth space at no charge. Tables are provided.
The Christmas Bazaar is part of an effort by the Center for Rural Affairs to increase income opportunities for Omaha Tribal members who grow food or create artwork through local markets and community gardens in Walthill and Macy. Many of the vendors who appeared at farmers markets during the growing season will sell goods at the event.
