Grand Island, Neb. - The Center for Rural Affairs is co-sponsoring a pair of FREE Taxpayer Education workshops in Grand Island on Oct. 3 and 4, 2016.
This three hour workshop is taught by Margaret Akin and Steve Drzaic, Revenue Educators from the Nebraska Department of Revenue. In addition to the Nebraska Revenue educators, Griselda Rendon, Latino Loan Specialist with the Center for Rural Affairs, will talk about Occupation Tax and discuss how the Center and the UNL Extension can assist business owners with business needs.
Rendon will be available to translate for Spanish speaking entrepreneurs.
Topics covered during the course will include: Nebraska sales tax basics, applying for tax permits, occupation taxes, collecting sales tax, reporting sales tax, and online services.
“Paying sales tax online is easy and simple, by attending this workshop participants will learn where to go to pay the sales tax online and what products and services you would need to collect sales tax on,” commented Rendon. “Paying sales tax on time is very important to avoid late fees.”
Participants will also have the opportunity to have a one-on-one consultation with the Revenue Educators. Participants are encouraged to bring their files along for these consultations.
