RED OAK, IOWA  – Red Oak and Montgomery County community members interested in learning more about local foods and connecting with other residents are invited to a public meeting hosted by the Center for Rural Affairs and Red Oak Farmers Market.

“Feeding Our Future: Montgomery County Local Foods Roundtable” will be held on Thursday, April 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Stadium 34, 1200 Senate Ave., in Red Oak. Appetizers and soft beverages will be served with cash bar options. Discussion during the free event will focus on identifying local food gaps and challenges and how they can be addressed through collaboration.

“During this meeting, we want to spread the word about the incredible things happening around local foods in Montgomery County,” said Deborah Solie, project associate with the Center. “We hope to learn from local producers and distributors, business owners, and nonprofits that are working to ensure there is fresh, nutritious, locally grown food available to Montgomery County residents.”

All attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas to share to help create future collaborations.

Registrations are not required, but appreciated, by April 9. For more information or to register, contact Solie at deborahs@cfra.org or 402.870.1133.
