Cost: Free; expense stipends may be available

When: Monthly, January through November 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Where: Online

About: Are you a military veteran interested in agriculture? Join the Center for Rural Affairs, assisted by Nebraska Extension and Legal Aid, as we navigate a year in the life of a local veteran farmer. In 2021, we will rotate between online classroom sessions and on-farm (with an online option) sessions.

In our classroom sessions, participants will hear from experts and learn business and financial skills and resources, applicable to any type of agricultural operation.

In the on-farm sessions, an experienced farmer will go through the ins and outs of production, as they demonstrate knowledge of a particular enterprise on their farm.

Farmer-leaders with experience in various types of agriculture (such as poultry, pork, beef, and beekeeping) will be active and available to assist participants throughout the course’s online platform.

Individuals are welcome to attend with family members. For on-farm events, physical accommodations may be made upon request.
