A leading force engaging people and ideas in building a better future for rural America.
Tribal Projects Manager
Farm and Community Program
Working alongside the Omaha and Santee Sioux Tribes in the Center’s food systems projects is important to me. My goal is for Tribal members to improve their health by learning about, eating, growing, selling, and teaching others about their own produce.
I have 30 years of experience in Native communities, including being chair of the Ponca Tribal Council, working with Rural Community Development Initiative Grants programs, serving as president of our economic development, starting Ponca Smoke Signals, and serving as Tribal health planner, to mention just a few.
Whether you realize it or not, every single one of us rely on rural America every day. I was raised on a farm near Plainview, Nebraska, and I am a proud product of rural America. We don't realize how lucky we are to have the farming infrastructure that we do, as we spend about 10 percent of our earnings on food while the rest of the world spends an estimated 25 percent. Yes, I am a data junkie.
