Keeping your diet balanced can impact your body’s response to stress. Certain foods have a stress-reducing effect. When you’re under stress, your body goes into “fight or flight” mode, releasing a chemical called cortisol. Simply sipping black tea and eating foods high in vitamin C can decrease cortisol levels in your body.
Serotonin is your body’s “feel good” chemical. Eat plenty of complex carbohydrates to increase serotonin levels. Good sources include oatmeal, whole grain breakfast cereals, breads, and pastas. Complex carbohydrates gradually release serotonin, another benefit.
