As an adult, I have lived in the Twin Cities and throughout Latin America, but was born and raised in southwest Minnesota in a tiny farming community called Currie. My parents and grandparents were born and raised in the area, so it is the heart of my family.
Since recently returning to Minnesota, I have developed a deeper appreciation for both the way of life and what we have to offer, locally and on a larger scale. I am concerned about the sustainability of what I know and love about rural Minnesota for future generations.
Through my work with the Center, I'm hoping to amplify the voice of rural Minnesotans and facilitate action on issues important to them. I am naturally curious, and believe everyone I come into contact with has something to teach me. I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to listen to my community and get a real idea of what they need, want, and value. I also speak Spanish and look forward to learning more about the needs of Latinos in rural Minnesota.
When I’m not working, I love to travel as much as I can and spend time at the lake.
