Crystal Powers, co-owner and co-operator of Darby Springs Farm, in Ceresco, Nebraska, participates in our Women's Learning Circles.
Darby Springs Farm motivation and practices:
- Motivation for farming is to help people restore land through sustainable agriculture.
- Finds ways to utilize land to her advantage, rather than changing it for more convenient use.
- Philosophy consists of much love and attention paid to livestock.
On Women's Learning Circles:
"It was really rewarding learning from other women in a collaborative group. Each woman brings her own knowledge, helping all of us see a fuller picture. For the session I led, there was no pressure to have all the answers with the learning circle. I could offer my knowledge and experiences and others could build on it and teach me even more."

Women’s Learning Circles are based upon work that is supported by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture through the North Central Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program.
