LYONS, NEBRASKA – The Center for Rural Affairs has chosen Jeanne Schieffer, director, and Sandie Fischer, events planner and entrepreneur/membership developer, both of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, to receive its 2019 Latino Partner Award. Center staff will recognize Schieffer and Fischer at an awards ceremony on Friday, March 13, in York, Nebraska.

The Latino Partner Award is presented annually to an individual or organization that has demonstrated outstanding support and exceptional dedication to small business development in rural Nebraska, specifically to the Latino community.

Schieffer and Fischer have supported Latino businesses and encouraged them to participate in different community events, in addition to connecting Center staff with Latino businesses and community leaders in Columbus.

“Jeanne and Sandie have referred several clients to the Center in the past, and are always open to working with the Latino community,” said Veronica Spindola, Latino loan specialist with the Center for Rural Affairs. “Every time I turn to them and ask for something, I can be sure that ‘yes’ will be the answer.”
