PLAINVIEW, NEBRASKA – Two free workshops are scheduled for local entrepreneurs and business owners in the Plainview area. These events are sponsored by the Center for Rural Affairs and Plainview Economic Development.

Each session will take place at City of Plainview Public Library, 209 N. Pine St., Plainview, Nebraska, 68769.

  • Hiring Employees and Business Financial Planning: Thursday, Sept. 27, noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. (two sessions to choose from)
  • Online Marketing Strategies: Monday, Oct. 8, 5 to 8 p.m.

Hiring Employees and Business Financial Planning will be presented by J'Nan Ensz, certified public accountant and managing member of Accounting & Business Consulting Group, LLC, near Beatrice, Nebraska. Lunch and dinner will be provided by Plainview Economic Development.

“Business owners may not be aware of what questions they should ask when hiring a new employee,” said Kim Preston, Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center director. “What’s involved with hiring a new employee? Are in you in compliance? In these seminars, we’ll answer these questions and more.”

Diane Siefkes, owner of dkSolutions, and an online marketing consultant from Lincoln, Nebraska, will present the course. Siefkes specializes in demystifying social media and email marketing for small business owners.  Refreshments will be furnished by Plainview Economic Development.

“Maximize use of your online pages by engaging with and marketing to your followers," Preston said. “Take Facebook for example. Did you know there are more than one billion daily active users on Facebook? If you are not taking advantage of this powerful platform, you may be missing out on potential customers.”
