Spindola to provide bilingual assistance to small businesses in northeast Nebraska

Lyons, Neb. - Center for Rural Affairs recently hired Veronica Spindola as a Latino loan specialist. Based in Columbus, Nebraska, she serves all small businesses in 10 counties and offers bilingual services to clients in 18 counties.

Spindola provides assistance to individuals who are looking to start or expand their businesses in rural communities in northeast Nebraska through the Center's small business program, Rural Enterprise Assistance Project (REAP). Her duties include helping with financing, technical assistance, and training.

“Part of my job is to develop and maintain meaningful relationships with borrowers before, during, and after their loan transactions,” Spindola said. “Many of the customers continue to seek financing based on their positive experiences, so I strive to make sure everyone I work with is treated with respect and consideration.”

For three years, Spindola worked on a contract basis with the Center as a business technical assistance provider and as an instructor for Business Plan Basics training in Spanish.

She has also worked with the Central Community College Entrepreneurship Center as a business coordinator, and with regional economic development agencies to help small businesses.

“I’m most looking forward to helping make small towns in rural Nebraska vibrant places to live by creating new businesses and helping communities grow from the inside out,” Spindola said. “I get to help people and communities, and I get to learn something new every day. I am grateful and feel privileged to have this job.”

Spindola assists all small businesses in 10 counties, including Burt, Cedar, Cuming, Dakota, Dixon, Madison, Pierce, Stanton, Thurston, and Wayne counties. She serves Latino businesses in 18 counties, including Antelope, Boone, Burt, Cedar, Colfax, Cuming, Dakota, Dixon, Dodge, Knox, Madison, Nance, Pierce, Platte, Stanton, Thurston, Washington, and Wayne counties.
