Mark and Susan Ramaeker own and operate Ramaeker Organic Farm near Columbus, Nebraska. They employ a crop rotation including wheat, popcorn and soybeans integrated with plantings of alfalfa to increase fertility and control weed problems.

All crop land is irrigated by gravity or pivot. The Ramaekers are looking for a beginner with a strong commitment to organic farming and knowledge of soil science. They are willing to work with a beginner on financing and training.

This just in: Center staff recently learned of another exciting organic farming opportunity on 160 acres in Southeast Nebraska. The landowner is looking for a beginner with a strong commitment to organic and sustainable agriculture.

Charlie Smith from Hawley, Minnesota, has a degree in auto mechanics, working experience as a food service director at a summer camp/retreat center, and has worked on farming operations in Minnesota and North and South Dakota. He has experience farming sugar beets, corn, wheat, soybeans, and is interested in learning about livestock. Charlie is committed to conservation and working with a landowner who wants to transfer ownership in 5-10 years. He wants to stay in the upper Midwest.
