Are you a Nebraska farmer or rancher who can’t get crop insurance for all of your crops? Are you a new Nebraska farmer and don’t know much about how crop insurance works and whether it can work for you?
We have a workshop for you.
You might have heard of a program called Whole Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP). It is crop insurance offered by USDA that covers the revenue of a farm operation, and it encourages on-farm diversity.
Why it’s great: WFRP offers crop insurance coverage for many crops where policies previously weren’t available - because it covers their revenue. It helps more farmers take some of the risk out farming.
Why you haven’t heard of it: It’s so new! It’s only been available for two years, and not a lot of folks in Nebraska are familiar with it yet. Come to our workshops to learn more.
At our workshop, you will:
- Hear from John Schreiter of Hudson Insurance group about how WFRP policies work.
- Hear from Kelly Jackson of Daniels Produce, who purchased Whole Farm Revenue Protection for her family’s vegetable operation.
- Learn more about what WFRP covers. Here’s a preview: it can be used to cover fruits, vegetables, and commodity crops. It will even cover livestock as long as revenues are under $1 million.
- Learn about whether WFRP could be a good fit for your operation.
