Community Outreach a Perfect Fit for Monica Braun

Monica Braun is the director of the Women’s Business Center (WBC) of the Rural Enterprise Assistance Project (REAP) at the Center for Rural Affairs. This role is a perfect fit for her rich background in community outreach and deep roots in south central Nebraska.

She graduated from Superior High School and attended the University of Nebraska, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Consumer Science. She also received a graduate degree from UNL in Education and Family Resource Management with a minor in Ag Economics.

Custom Sports Hits Homerun with Quality Service and Products

Growth is the name of the game for Greg and Kristi Parr. They started Custom Sports in the small rural community of Neligh, Nebraska, in 2004 and have been hitting homeruns ever since. Aptly named, Custom Sports provides custom T-shirt and other sports apparel. The business offers custom embroidery in addition to screen printing.

Unapologetically Rural

Reflecting upon the work of the Center for Rural Affairs, I think it’s an exciting time in rural America, with growing opportunities in sustainable farming, clean energy, healthcare, and small business.

As a new Community Development Financial Institute we’re building capacity to meet growing capital needs of small businesses, and exploring needs in the farm sector and in neighboring states.
