Juan Sandoval, Latino Business Center director, received the 2016 Outstanding Service Award from the Nebraska Entrepreneurship Task Force on Nov. 17 at the Innovation Campus in Lincoln.

The award recognizes individuals or organizations that have demonstrated and sustained outstanding leadership and advocacy for entrepreneurship education and/or business development services in Nebraska.

Center staff have been actively involved in round tables in Schuyler in 2016 and have developed trainings across the state through the Center for Rural Affairs Women Business Center.

“We have educated business owners in many topics during the year. Some of them include basic bookkeeping, business plan basics, email marketing, promoting your business through social media, transition and succession planning and more,” Sandoval said.

The award is a great incentive to continue the Center's work with many microentrepreneurs in Nebraska. When staff are able to organize the workshops and increase the number of clients served and counseled, business owners learn and are able to apply their knowledge for success.
