GRAND ISLAND, LINCOLN, AND COLUMBUS, NEBRASKA – Nebraska entrepreneurs and small business managers are invited to attend a variety of free workshops sponsored by the Center for Rural Affairs.

Workshops offered in October include:

  • “Restaurant Academy,” Mondays, Oct. 4, 11, 18, 25, Nov. 1 and 8,  from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., online/College Park, 3180 W. Highway 34, Room 207, Grand Island, Nebraska 68801, offered in Spanish
  • “Introduction to Hiring Employees,” Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Dinsdale Family Learning Commons, second floor, North 38th and Holdrege streets, Lincoln, Nebraska 68503
  • “Introduction to Small Business Taxes,” Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Dinsdale Family Learning Commons, second floor, North 38th and Holdrege streets, Lincoln, Nebraska 68503
  • “Child Care Academy,” Saturdays, Oct. 16 and 23, from 10 a.m. to noon, Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., College Park, 3180 W. Highway 34, Room 207, Grand Island, Nebraska 68801, offered in Spanish
  • “Strategic Planning After a Crisis,” Mondays, Oct. 18 and 25, Nov. 1 and 8, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Centro Hispano, 3214 25th St., Suite 1, Columbus, Nebraska 68601, offered in Spanish
  • “Construction Academy,” Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 19, 21, 26, and 28, Nov. 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, and 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., online/College Park, 3180 W. Highway 34, Room 207, Grand Island, Nebraska 68801, offered in both English and Spanish

“In the last year, small businesses have been faced with challenges due to the pandemic, staffing shortages, and changes in federal regulations,” said Jessica Campos, Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center director. “Our October workshops address the current business climate and offer assistance to entrepreneurs as they make plans for the future.”

Advanced registration is required for each event; sign up at cfra.org/events.

Center for Rural Affairs provides business training, one-on-one business counseling, business loans up to $250,000, and networking to small businesses in Nebraska.

The Center recommends that all participants wear face masks at indoor events.
