Small business academies set in Columbus

COLUMBUS, NEBRASKA – Two free workshop series are scheduled for local entrepreneurs and business owners in Columbus. These events will be offered in Spanish and are sponsored by the Center for Rural Affairs, in partnership with Centro Hispano.

All courses will take place at Centro Hispano, 3020 18th St., Ste. 7, in Columbus.

March 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28: Cleaning Academy
This eight-day course will be from 5 to 8 on Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. RSVP by Feb. 28.

March 9, 16, and 23: Restaurant Academy
This three-day session will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. RSVP by March 2. Additional partnerships include the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension and Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce.

“Small business owners and managers, and entrepreneurs in these fields need more opportunities in rural areas to complete requirements and certifications specific to their industry,” said Jessica Campos, Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center director. “These academies will include certifications and related training to boost the caliber of skills in the Columbus area.”
