LYONS, NEBRASKA –  Benny Estrada, of Lyons, Nebraska, is spending his summer as a communications intern for the Center for Rural Affairs.

“I get to build relationships and get to learn more about journalism writing,” Estrada said. “I feel privileged to work at the Center, where I get to help my community in Lyons, Nebraska, to ensure better rural living.”

His tasks have included taking a look at marketing and media materials for the nonprofit organization, based in Lyons, Nebraska.

“Benny has helped drive forward our communications efforts this summer,” said Rhea Landholm, brand marketing and communications manager at the Center. “His love of video paired with his passion for rural communities offers a unique perspective on our work.”

Estrada graduated from Lyons-Decatur Northeast High School in 2017, and recently completed his freshman year at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where his major was in Journalism and Creative Media. He created visual effects and radio advertisements for Mav Radio, a student radio station, based in Omaha.

This fall, the intern will continue his education at the University of Wyoming, studying film production. He plans to pursue a career in camera production.

Estrada enjoys traveling, photography, and spending time with friends and family. In the future, he plans to create a short film for the independent film contest, Omaha Film Streams.
