LYONS, NEBRASKA – The Center for Rural Affairs has chosen Megan Gewecke of Kearney, Nebraska, to receive the 2019 Rural Enterprise Assistance Project (REAP) Women’s Business Center Entrepreneur Award. She will be recognized at an awards ceremony on Friday, March 13, in York, Nebraska.

The Women’s Business Center Entrepreneur Award is presented annually to an individual or individuals who have utilized the Center for Rural Affairs’ Women’s Business Center services and are successfully operating and growing their business. The award exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit so crucial to women-owned businesses and the rural Nebraska communities they call home.

Gewecke is a licensed psychologist who offers counseling for substance use and mental health issues, and the owner of Stepping Stones Psychological Services, LLC.

She utilized REAP assistance in preparing her business plan in addition to taking advantage of one-on-one business counseling assistance as well as trainings and workshops.

“Megan is very deserving of the Women’s Business Center Entrepreneur Award,” said Kim Preston, Rural Enterprise Assistance Project director. “She has always appreciated the assistance REAP has provided to her and her business.”

Gewecke has expanded her business by becoming part of a private practice. Both she and her partner employ an office staff person, and are looking at bringing on another licensed psychologist to the location.
