O'NEILL, NEBRASKA – A workshop for business owners interested in learning about everything involved in the employee hiring process is set for Monday, July 23, in O’Neill, hosted by the Center for Rural Affairs and Holt County Economic Development.

Two free sessions of "New Hires" will be offered: from noon to 2 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m., at Holt County Economic Development, O'Neill Historic Depot Building, 330 E Hancock St., O'Neill, Nebraska.

“Business owners may not be aware of what questions they should ask when hiring a new employee,” said Kim Preston, Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center interim director. “What’s involved with hiring a new employee? Are in you in compliance? In this seminar, we’ll answer these questions and more.”

Attendees will learn about paperwork to complete when hiring a new employee; employer reporting requirements for various federal and state government agencies; payroll taxes; workers’ compensation insurance; and overtime rules.
