I missed the start of it, so I'm not certain exactly what they are doing, but Senator Roberts (R-KS) is talking about the Farm Bill on the Senate floor. And let me tell you, this is going to be a whole lot of fun.
Paraphrasing Senator Roberts:
Some people talk about targeting farm payments towards family farmers, but I don't know what they mean by a family farmer. I worry that maybe they mean someone who is 5' 3" from the Northeast.... Well, I'll tell you what. Where I come from, I've got some real farmers, and they are 6' 3".
Ah. Yes. We've heard that before.
Didn't we tell you, Senator Roberts? How tall a farmer is an key part of the Dorgan-Grassley Amendment. Here at the Center for Rural Affairs we strongly believe that no one over 5' 7" should be able to collect farm payments.
