As you read this, the Senate and House are preparing to negotiate final funding levels for important programs in the coming year, including support for rural small businesses and value added agriculture.
Over the summer, the Senate passed a spending bill that would increase funding for rural small business development and value added agriculture. The House passed a bill that does not increase funding for either program. Now they will meet to hammer out their differences, and rural America will be stronger if the Senate's plan to increase funding these two programs prevails.
Will you act today to help make this happen?
Dial 202-224-3121 and ask for the office of one of your Senators. Ask them to help rural America by fighting for $26 million for the Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program and $22 million for the Value Added Producer Grants Program, the level the Senate funded both programs at.
After you write or call, pass this message on to others too.
The Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program will help make our rural communities vibrant by providing loans, training and technical assistance to owner operated business with ten or fewer employees. Helping rural America do its part to revive our economy starts with supporting rural small businesses.
The Value Added Producer Grants Program is a competitive grants program to develop new farm and food-related businesses that boost farm income, create jobs, and increase rural economic opportunity.
Thanks for all you do for rural America.
