Why I Support the Center

I'm Doug Crabtree. My wife Anna and I own and operate a certified organic dryland crop farm just south of the Canadian border in Hill County, Montana. We first worked with the Center back in the 90’s when trying to make a connection to start farming through the Land Link program.

Intern Louie Brings the Power

We extend a big welcome to Louie Nelsen, our new energy policy intern. Louie, fresh from the Nebraska Senate campaign, is a Wayne State College graduate and a Norfolk, Nebraska native.

He’ll spend his time doing research for our clean energy transmission database, penning outreach material related to clean energy, and organizing around transmission issues on a regional level.

We’re excited to have him on board. You can reach him at lucasn@cfra.org.

The Health Care Tales of Two Businesses

In November, I had an opportunity to travel to Montana. There, former intern Matt Gunther and I embarked on a “storytelling road trip.” We traveled the requisite long distances in this majority-rural state to talk with and listen to people. Health care was a hot topic that we discussed from living room to living room, over coffee, and in the middle of the pasture. Over and over, people laid out their lives and their hopes for reform.
