MarketPlace is Coming to Town

In the spirit of the holiday season, I am letting people know about a special gift from the Center for Rural Affairs to Nebraskans. In its sixth consecutive year, MarketPlace - Nebraska’s premier rural entrepreneurship event - will once again bring strong, hands-on learning opportunities for potential and existing farm, ranch, home-based and mainstreet business owners as well as community leaders and others interested in entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurs and small business owners are the backbone of Nebraska’s rural economy. And Marketplace is giving entrepreneurs a leg up in business start-up, business expansion, and job creation. According to a survey of MarketPlace attendees, 52% of participants have started, expanded, or made changes to their business because of the conferences; and nearly 88% that made business changes as a result of MarketPlace sought financing to do so.

MarketPlace offers educational sessions focusing on innovation, marketing, business development, social media and financials. A Resource Zone featuring expert presenters, service providers, and successful small businesses will provide abundant networking opportunities.  An impressive lineup of speakers will share information on promoting rural businesses and communities.

Back by popular demand is RZ Bounce, an opportunity for entrepreneurs to get 15 minutes with business and marketing experts. They will be able to describe their business and explain what their challenges are and the experts will offer suggestions and resources to consider.

The Center for Rural Affairs is proud to bring MarketPlace back to Kearney, Nebraska on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Ramada Inn and Convention Center (
