Gardeners Pay it Forward for Receiving Free Land

More than 15,000 pounds of vegetables have been donated to The Neighbor's Place this year. And the donations still keep coming.

Tenants at the agency's Community Garden located just north of Wausau receive plots of land, for free, to grow their own fruits and vegetables. The Neighbor's Place asks, in return, for the families to donate 10 percent of their harvest back to the community.

Gardener Sao Lor of Wausau is more than happy to share. She says "We understand that because The Neighbor's Place is allowing us to use the land and free water, we want to help the less fortunate. And we like it because this is our excuse to get out and exercise."

Tuesday, the couple donated 57 pounds of vegetables to add to the hundreds of pounds they've given to The Neighbor's Place over the decade.
