2009 was an exceptional year for the Center for Rural Affairs’ REAP program on many fronts, including receipt of several substantial awards. Business Specialists Gene Rahn and Jerry Terwilliger received significant awards earlier in 2009, and now another REAP Business Specialist has earned honors for her work.
Dena Beck received the “Connecting Nebraskans” Award at the Governor’s Conference last November with this salute:
Dena Beck is the Connecting Nebraskans award recipient from the Central Nebraska Development Network. The Partnership for Rural Nebraska and Nebraska Development Network Regional Groups choose award winners.
A tireless advocate for the area’s development, Dena transitioned from a part-time chamber of commerce job serving one county to a job as a full-time REAP economic development business specialist serving 16 counties.
Dena has served as past secretary and council president of the Central Nebraska RC & D and is the president-elect of the South Platte United Chamber of Commerce. She is also the current co-chair of the Central Nebraska Development Network.
In all of these positions, Dena works to determine what other resources are available to the client or community, partnering whenever possible with other agencies and providers to bring the best technical and financial assistance to the projects.
Congratulations to Dena for receiving this outstanding award!
