LYONS, NE – The Center for Rural Affairs will host a Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) field day on September 23, 2008. The tour will begin at 3 p.m. at 2261 Rokeby Road south of Milford, NE. The farm is on the south side of the road. The tour will end at 146 County Road 1900, which is 1 1/2 miles south of the first farm, around 5 p.m. with a meal being served at that time.
“We are looking forward to sharing information about our organic farming practices with others and provide insight on how those practices have helped us obtain greater benefits from our participation in the Conservation Stewardship Program,” commented Dave Welsch, Milford farmer and CSP participant.
 
The field day will focus on CSP for organic farmers, wildlife practices part of CSP contracts, EQIP organic transition program, Beginning Farmer Conservation Programs, and a presentation on the 2008 Farm Bill and the changes regarding the CSP and EQIP as well as new beginning farmer and rancher conservation and other provisions.
