La Junta, CO - The Colorado Rural Development Council (CRDC) and the Center for Rural Affairs will host the first ever Colorado Entrepreneurship MarketPlace which will focus on building jobs and the rural economy from within. It will be held on October 10th, 2008 on the campus of Otero Junior College in La Junta Colorado.
Charles "Chuck" D'Aprix, Founder of The Downtown Entrepreneurship Project in Washington, DC will be the closing keynote speaker. He has been described as an interesting, engaging and dynamic speaker. Chuck shares his experiences and real life examples of how entrepreneurship can shape a community - indeed how entrepreneurship can play a central role in community revitalization. Sometimes referred to as the "walking encyclopedia on downtown entrepreneurship," he inspires audiences with his experience, spirit, and risk-taking of a true entrepreneur.
"Entrepreneurship allows communities of all sizes to take control of their destinies absent onerous incentives or chasing the 'next big thing.' There remains little doubt that entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship are the future of economic development and innovation in our increasingly global economy," stated D'Aprix.
D'Aprix is a 25 year plus advocate of community entrepreneurship. He is an expert in entrepreneur recruitment, testing, training, exploring financial options and much more. He travels the United States offering these services, and is particularly sensitive in understanding that entrepreneurs, small communities, and non-profits have limited resources. Chuck has most recently worked in Colorado with the Town of Granby, in Grand County.
After a day filled with engaging information sessions, Mr. D'Aprix will send participants away from the MarketPlace enthused, invigorated, and informed. According to MarketPlace Coordinator, Julie Worley, he is a true inspiration, and The Colorado Entrepreneurship MarketPlace is proud to be able to bring Chuck to La Junta.
The event will offer various high quality educational sessions and exhibitor booths with an abundance of networking opportunities. There will be informational sessions, service providers, networking opportunities, as well as individuals already engaged in entrepreneurial activities to assist in innovating Colorado's own up and coming entrepreneurs.
