La Junta, CO – Huntington ("Hunt") Lambert, the Associate Vice President of Office of Economic Development at Colorado State University, will be the opening keynote speaker for the Colorado Entrepreneurship MarketPlace. He will start off the day with the kind of knowledge and enthusiasm each up and coming entrepreneur, as well as an established entrepreneur needs to succeed.
Colorado Entrepreneurship MarketPlace is an entrepreneurial event that will stimulate small business development and rural community growth throughout rural Colorado. The event which is being hosted by the Colorado Rural Development Council (CRDC) and the Center for Rural Affairs will be held on October 10th, 2008 on the campus of Otero Junior College in La Junta Colorado.

"Innovation and entrepreneurship are at the center of economic development in the 21st century.  A region's ability to embrace and support its entrepreneurs and innovate to take advantage of local capabilities in the global economy will determine who grows and who shrinks over the next decade.  The Colorado Entrepreneurship Marketplace is a fantastic opportunity for Colorado to continue its innovation driven growth," commented Lambert.
The former Director of the Colorado State University Entrepreneurship Center and a member of the Faculty at the College of Business, Hunt has been part of 25 startups in 12 countries, 22 of which are still operating during his industry career. He teaches strategy and business plan development in the MBA program and was the Beta Gamma Sigma professor of the year in 2004. He continues to be involved in CSU’s Superclusters, CSU-Ventures, teaching, many boards and several CSU technology-based new companies.  He has helped another 15 startups since he joined CSU seven years ago including Solix Biofuels, EnviroFit, AVA Solar, Keen Foods and AML.

Hunt is currently involved with the creation and launch of the CSU Global Campus.  This will provide valuable resources to individuals that want to take the next step in their education, but are not able to travel to a physical campus environment.

MarketPlace will feature up to 40 booths filled with successful small business men and women, service providers, and other conference sponsors. Attendees will be able to meet with these folks throughout the day to ask questions, gather information, and make connections.

Small business development drives job growth and economic development in rural areas. The event will offer training, networking, and professional development opportunities for startup and existing small businesses, service providers, rural communities, and family farmers and ranchers.
