Lyons, Nebraska – The Center for Rural Affairs, based in Lyons, Nebraska, was recently awarded the “Working Here Grant” from Farm Credit Services of America.

The funds will be used for Answering the Call: Veteran Farmer Conference on Saturday, March 24, with a farm tour on Thursday, May 24.

Answering the Call is presented in partnership with Legal Aid of Nebraska and is designed for veterans interested in farming or ranching.

“The conference provides an opportunity for veterans to learn more about resources and networks available to them as they start farming, and keep farming successfully,” said Jordan Rasmussen, Center for Rural Affairs policy associate. “Moreover, this conference seeks to foster a community and network among veterans who are interested and engaged in agriculture in Nebraska.”

Through the Working Here Fund, Farm Credit Services of America has set aside grant funds for projects and organizations that make a positive impact in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, or Wyoming.
