Kearney, Neb. – The registration deadline is approaching for the fifth annual Women Entrepreneur Conference, hosted by the Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center and the Small Business Administration.

Registration is required by April 4 for the one-day conference on April 11, 2018, at Holiday Inn & Convention Center, 110 Second Ave., in Kearney. The event will begin at 8 a.m. and close by 4 p.m.

The business conference gathers women from across the state and highlights resources for entrepreneurs. Deb Brown is the featured presenter, and will speak about marketing in a small town, both online and offline. Brown is a national advocate for rural communities and co-founder of SaveYour.Town.

“Want to bring in more visitors to your store? Want to highlight what you have to offer? Want to promote your community and your business? Deb will show you marketing tools to move your business forward quickly,” said Monica Braun, Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center director. “She’ll share how you can put your ideas in action with small steps, utilizing the power of your crowd and the connections you build.”

Other sessions include “Want to Increase the Odds for Business Success? Call Your Accountant,” featuring J’Nan Ensz speaking about using an accountant and the questions business owners should be asking; and “Small Business Legal Issues,” focusing on the basics of entity formation, presented by third-year students from Weibling Entrepreneurship Clinic at the University of Nebraska College of Law.

“This event brings together successful and aspiring women business owners to support and encourage one another,” said Braun. “When women entrepreneurs come forward to share their experiences, they are inspiring to others who are working to create successful businesses in rural Nebraska.”

Sessions to gather resources and network with other entrepreneurs are also on the agenda. The day wraps up with a panel of local entrepreneurs who will share their challenges, rewards, and best advice for business owners.
