LYONS, NEBRASKA - Registration is now open for “Answering the Call,” a free, one-day conference for veteran farmers on Thursday, June 22, in Seward, Neb. The event is sponsored by the Center for Rural Affairs and Legal Aid of Nebraska.

“Answering the Call will provide veteran farmers an avenue to network, and an opportunity to discover resources and services that are readily available to them,” said Paige Dietrich, of the Center for Rural Affairs.

The day will begin at 8 a.m. at the Seward Civic Center, 616 Bradford St., Seward, Neb., with lunch at Ficke Cattle in Pleasant Dale, Neb. Two farm tours will conclude the afternoon. Transportation will be provided.

Featured speakers will include veteran farmers and representatives from the Farm Service Agency and Nebraska Department of Agriculture. There will also be two panel discussions on financial resources and land access.

Pre-registration is required and opens today, May 1, 2017, at cfra.org/events.

Additional support for Answering the Call is provided by Green Acres Cover Crops and the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, United States Department of Agriculture.
