LYONS, NEBRASKA - The Center for Rural Affairs has chosen Glennis McClure, of Beatrice, Neb., as its 2016 Friend of the Year. Center staff will recognize McClure at an award ceremony on March 10 in York, Neb.

The Friend of the Year Award is presented annually to an individual, organization or institution that provides invaluable service to entrepreneurs by assisting staff in offering technical assistance, business training, loans and networking across rural Nebraska.

“Glennis is a longtime friend,” said Jeff Reynolds of the Center for Rural Affairs. “She is a constant source of referrals to our program as senior development coordinator of Gage Area Growth Enterprise.”

McClure has not only been a friend, she served as the first Center for Rural Affairs Women’s Business Center director in 2001, and became co-director of the lending program in 2004.

In subsequent careers with the Federal Reserve Bank, Nebraska Enterprise Fund and Gage Area Growth Enterprise, she has promoted the Center to clientele. Further, with the Nebraska Enterprise Fund, she provided additional loans to Center clients; and with Gage Area Growth Enterprise, she collaborates on and sponsors Women’s Business Center training activities.

“Glennis’ passion for entrepreneurship aligns with our mission, and her continued support and partnership are critical to our program,” Reynolds said.
