What Do You Think We Should Do?

Will you help us make the next five years the best ever for the Center for Rural Affairs? We’re writing a new five-year strategic plan, and we could use your help.

It’s an exciting time to be planning at the Center. We’ll be 40 years old next year. That is 40 years of working with grassroots people like you to create opportunity in our communities and positive change in public policy.

With your help, we are poised to make major steps forward in the next five years, increasing our impact and reaching more communities.

We are interested to know what you think. What do you see as the most pressing issues facing rural people? What opportunities for positive change do you see on the horizon?

As we plan, we keep in mind our mission and values. Since its inception, the Center has resisted the role of advocating for the interests of any one group. Instead, we work to create a future that reflects a set of values that represent the best of rural America. These include:

Genuine opportunity for all, including the opportunity to share in the ownership of the fruits of your labor and fairness for all who contribute.

Involvement and action by citizens like you to shape the future of your communities and contribute to progress that serves the common good.

Stewardship of the natural environment upon which all of us - current and future generations - rely.

What work do you think will best help us uphold our values?

We’re also planning how we can work better with you – thousands of rural people and supporters across the country – to create change. How can we work together to make the greatest impact? What ways would you like to engage with us on this work?

We want to hear what you think. Please call or email any staff or board member to share your ideas. You can also get in touch with me directly. I’d love to hear what you think.
