Beginning Farmer Testifies on the Hill

On May 10, 2012, beginning farmer and Iraq War veteran, Justin Doerr, testified on beginning farmer and ranchers issues in the nation’s capital. He appeared before the US House Agriculture Subcommittee’s Farm Bill hearing on federal credit programs.

Justin spoke about the barriers he faced when getting started in agriculture. He grew up on a small farm where they raised hogs, cattle, and some hay. When Justin wanted to start on his own, he had plenty of desire, but lacked the capital and resources.
