Take Action for Wind Development

The U.S. Senate will debate energy and climate legislation in the coming months. Rural people and small communities would benefit from new jobs, an increased tax base and payments to landowners if the legislation sets a strong Renewable Electricity Standard.

A strong standard would spur new wind development and create lasting economic benefit. Our analysis found several Midwestern states would gain between 3,000 and 9,000 permanent jobs each and seven times as many short-term construction phase jobs.

We are advocating for a Renewable Electricity Standard that requires large, private utilities to get at least 20 percent of their power from renewable sources. Supportive senators are expected to file an amendment during floor debate on the energy bill, and we need your help to win enough senators to our side to win.

Will you take action today? Call the switchboard at 202.224,3121 and ask for one of your senators. Urge them to vote yes on an amendment to the energy bill to strengthen the Renewable Electricity Standard. Tell them who you are and where you are calling from, and then call back and ask for your other senator.

Renewable engery

It is way past time to take a strong stand for renewable enrgy. To stand up to "Big Energy". We need to require every new home and commercial building to have a balanced system of Wind and solar energy. This would do wonders for the enviorment and would reduce dependence on Oil and gas.

With the recent effects of

With the recent effects of the oil industry on our environment, alternative energy is necessary.

Make renewable energy a priority.

Wind Energy

I am just flabbergasted. Has no-one read the mountains of information out there about the negatives associated with wind energy? Surveys have been done of people that live in areas in which wind towers are located, and it is not a pretty picture. I have heard first-hand from people who live near to them, the health problems (humans and animals), noise, flicker, inability to sleep, tv and radio reception problems, drop in home values...some people just abandoning their homes because of all of the problems and inability to sell. The list goes on. I do not see how good neighbors could put these burdens on anyone.

Dear Flabbergasted

All power has some side-effects, though I doubt the veracity of claims. Coal power plants drop heavy metals on the neighborhoods they are located in and warm the entire planet. Nuclear power devastates areas where ore is mined and pollute power plants with on-site toxic waste that will last for thousands of years.

GO windmills!!!
