More on Power Lines
We received more reader feedback from our article calling for fair compensation to landowners who get power lines to move wind generated electricity from the Plains to population centers.
Linc Reinhiller called from Hazen, North Dakota, to report how affected landowners got together and retained an attorney to negotiate their joint interests on a line built in the 1980s by Montana Dakota Utilities. The settlement provided long-term annual payments worth considerably more than a one-time easement payment. “Landowners need to organize,” says Reinhiller.
