Grants Available for Cooperatively Owned Businesses
The Nebraska Cooperative Development Center’s 2010 Initial and Advanced Assistance Grants Applications are now available. These competitive grants provide new and existing cooperatively owned businesses with funding for critical stages in business development and expansion. Grants are awarded to cooperatives and groups who need assistance for legal services, accounting, consulting, and other development services. For the complete application, visit http://ncdc.unl.edu. The deadline to apply is March 19 at 4 p.m. (CT).
$100 million for Rural Libraries
USDA has allocated $100 million in Rural Development Community Facilities funding for public libraries to provide educational opportunities and improve public services in rural communities. The American Library Association says that in 78 percent of rural communities, the library is the only provider of no-fee Internet access. Find our more here.
Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Funding Available
USDA Rural Development has funding available for community facilities owned and operated by nonprofit groups, public bodies and federally recognized tribes. This is a perfect opportunity for facilities that support the "Know Your Farmer Know Your Food" initiative. Facilities such as hoop houses, community gardens, food processing and distribution centers, community kitchen equipment and similar types of things will qualify for this program. Questions?
