MarketPlace Offers Opportunity for Growth

If you are a farmer, rancher, civic leader, rural developer, small business owner or are thinking of starting a small business, you should attend the Center for Rural Affairs’ MarketPlace conference.

The 4th Annual MarketPlace will take place Feb. 23 (pre-conference) and 24 (full conference) at the Ramada Convention Center in Kearney, Nebraska. You can register at www.cfra.org/marketplace/registration.

Attendees will participate in teach-ins focusing on finance, marketing, community capacity, innovative farming and ranching opportunities, small business development and much more. Attorneys, accountants, marketing experts, and other resource professionals will lead the teach-ins and be available for questions.

Nowhere in the Midwest or Great Plains – perhaps nowhere in rural America – will you find a better opportunity to improve your business, create a better future for your community, network with peers, and access top-flight professional advice than at MarketPlace – Nebraska’s premiere entrepreneurship event.

MarketPlace was created to foster entrepreneurship and economic opportunity in rural Nebraska. Over 1,500 rural people from Nebraska and surrounding states have attended the last three events and participated in making that vision a reality. Here's what they had to say:

“The workshops I attended at MarketPlace were just outstanding. One of the people I met happened to be in bookkeeping, and I made use of her skills. She helped us see a colossal mistake we were making! She definitely saved us a lot of time (money) and headache down the road.” — Alan Mais, The Camera Doctor, Kearney, NE

“Even though I have been in business for 13 years, I realize there is always something new to learn to help me as a person and as an entrepreneur. In the current economy … I have been able to keep the employees I have and grow my business by 5 percent due to the concepts and training I learned at MarketPlace.” — Kathy Bourque, Owner, UPS Store, North Platte, NE

“I started my business a little over five years ago. Before MarketPlace 2007, I was floundering. I didn’t know how to value my time, how to present my “product” and how to find my potential customers. Since then, I have made so many connections and hired an office assistant; I even brought her to MarketPlace 2009! We made a great connection with an entrepreneur who was looking to partner with someone just like me!” — Connie R. Harvey, owner Efficiency Counts, Hastings, NE

Could there be any more important time to attend MarketPlace and learn how rural Nebraska can lead America on the long road to economic recovery? Don’t wait – register today! Contact Joy Marshall, 402.614.5558 or joym@cfra.org for more information.
