A Word of Thanks
Norma Hall of Elmwood, Neb. and Tony Vrana of Seward, Neb. – with combined service totaling more than three decades – have retired from the Center Board.
Norma was a spokesperson at the Legislature as well as a plaintiff in lawsuits to defend and enforce Initiative 300, Nebraska’s anti-corporate farming amendment. Within the Center, she provided leadership in the Board Nominations Committee and policy program. Norma operated the family farm while her husband Dale served as a rural school superintendent. She rose to leadership positions in Women Involved in Farm Economics and Nebraska Farmers Union.
Tony Vrana brought Washington and organizational experience to the Center Board, gained from service with the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, state government, and as chief executive of the Soil and Water Conservation Society of America. Tony and his wife Elaine brought a commitment to our work and the wisdom of experience in situations ranging from difficult meetings with the Governor to discussions of personnel management and policy reform.
Norma and Tony, as well as Dale and Elaine, will be missed.
