Beginning Farmer Information Gateway

The Center for Rural Affairs developed the first-ever national linking program for beginning and retiring farmers and ranchers. Land Link began in 1990 and since has been replicated in at least 20 states and in Japan, Australia, and Canada.

Although we no longer have a fulltime staff devoted to beginning farmers, their issues are woven throughout our policy, research, and agricultural efforts. Increasingly, people are turning to the Center for Rural Affairs as an information gateway.

In 2007, we had over 500 inquiries by phone or email and more than 6,000 visitors to our beginning farmer and rancher web pages. You can find more information at www.cfra.org/resources/beginning_farmer.

Contact: Wyatt Fraas, wyattf@cfra.org or 402.254.6893 for more information on our work with begining farmers and ranchers.
