Rural Revitalization Funding

Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson has won $250,000 in federal funding to enable the Center’s Rural Enterprise Assistance Project (REAP) to serve more small businesses across rural Nebraska. In addition, we’ll use the new funds to establish a Rural Revitalization Website.

REAP provides loans, training, and technical assistance to owner-operated businesses with up to five employees. Heavy demand for these services makes it impossible to reach every rural community and business in need of these services. With the additional funding, REAP will reach 600 businesses across the state, ranging from service to retail businesses.

The Rural Revitalization Website will provide practical information to rural small business and community leaders across the nation on effective entrepreneurial rural development strategies. We intend to make it the “go to” source of information for rural people committed to revitalizing their community.

The funding won by Senator Nelson will enable us to better serve rural people in building stronger businesses and communities.
